We were wondering along a bush track which led through to the ocean.
We admired all the coastal blooms, the scent of the ocean and the sound of the rolling waves crashing on the beach.
Suddenly, a movement caught my eye and I was amazed at the wombat staring back at me.
It moved on, unsure of us, but we quietly and enthusiastically followed it a while.
We reached its burrow which was over a hill. It was a very long burrow which he disappeared into.
It was the most unlikely animal to bump into and one least expected. We excitedly discussed our encounter with the Southern Hairy-Nosed Wombat with everyone who would listen to us for the next few weeks.
